Bill Frisell’s eerily precise guitar is at the centre of this effective studio collaboration, which references Miles Davis and Teo Macero’s pioneering collaborations of 30 years ago.  Frisell and drummer Matt Chamberlain jammed a rich menu of grooves – dubby title track, ambient rock, country blues and Southern soul – and turned the raw material over to producers Tucker Martine and longtime Frisell associate Lee Townsend.  The fine-tuned soundscapes – thickened by bass, trumpet and viola – maintain a satisfyingly hypnotic menace.
