Bill Frisell's music often evokes landscapes or fluid events. The Seattle-based guitarist teams with Matt Chamberlain (a top choice drummer for singers from the Indigo Girls to David Bowie) and Tucker Martine and Lee Townsend who edit, process and add loops for a sophisticated and ambient set of original music.

Like water the tunes flow, with a mournfulness on "Mississippi Rising," flooding cascades of rain on "Monsoon" and the bittersweet Seattle drizzle that encloses an artist so that he has nothing to do but look inside on "Wanderer."

Creative guest players -- Eyvind Kang on viola, bassist Viktor Krauss and cornet player Ron Miles -- add the sublime.
